Rick Ross Hides Past As A Correctional Officer

In late July 2008 pictures surfaced online of a young Rick Ross dressed as a correctional officer, these images rose question to Ross' street credibility and his may tales of cocaine flipping in the M-I-YAYO as Ross likes to call it.

Ross denied the authenticity of the photo, saying "My life is 100 percent real. These online hackers putting a picture of my face when I was a teenager in high school on other people’s body. If this shit was real don’t you think they would have more specifics, like dates and everything else? I’m in the entertainment business and a lot of people like to hate because I’m on top of my game. Like I said before my life is 100 percent real."

Rick Ross was exposed by TheSmokingGun.com, the same website which arose questions about Akon's past possibly being fabricated and now they have documents supporting claims that Ross did work as a correctional officer. Documents show that the rapper's social security number matches one William Roberts' who graduated from the Florida Department of Corrections training academy.

The documents reveal that Ross was given the job in December 1995 at the age of 19, and left the job in 1997.

Ross did a recent interview on radio station Power 98.3 in Phoenix, Arizona and still shot down rumors of him working as a C.O despite irrefutable evidence showing and proving that Williams Roberts aka Rick Ross was once a graduate of Florida Department of Corrections training and worked as a C.O from '95 to '97.
Ross is quoted saying, “When you get to my level, you’re a great conversation piece. I’m big on the blogs, I’m big on the magazines, and I appreciate that as an artist. That’s why I’m in the game. I got in this game to entertain people and to make great music. And that’s what it’s about.”

Ross showing that he isn't susceptible to the rumors, “When you get to my level, you’re a great conversation piece. I’m big on the blogs, I’m big on the magazines, and I appreciate that as an artist. That’s why I’m in the game. I got in this game to entertain people and to make great music. And that’s what it’s about.” Not without showing us why he is definitely a boss in the streets, “Like I said, I’m one of the realest sources of this real street music in this game. Straight out of Miami, straight out of M-I-Yayo. One of my closest homies was on America’s Most Wanted.”

Some of your favorite rappers weigh in on the situation..

Fabolous - "I don't know if it will really hurt him. As an artist, I think Rick Ross makes great music. He's always shown me love and respect whenever I met him. Everybody has a past. I don't know if [being a prison guard] is his past or not. That's not my place to say. I think if he continues to do what he does, sweep all that garbage under the rug — you know what? That's success. That's success taking a shot back at him. All of a sudden past pictures come up. He should just keep doing what he do."

Ludacris - "I'll be honest with you, man...When I heard about it, I honestly thought to myself, 'Some of them correction officers are some of the most crooked individuals.' Whether he did that or not, it's all what you take from it."

"It's a lot of crooked cops out there," he continued. "They manipulate the system. So I'm just being real. When I heard about it, either way — if he did it, if he didn't do it — it could still be crooked from it. That's what it all comes down to. So that's Ludacris' two cents on the whole Rick Ross situation. To be real with you, man, if that's how you want to manipulate the system, that's how you do it. ... You get in the system. There you have it."

Akon - "It'll only affect Ross if Ross allows it to affect him," Akon told MTV. "Had I gone out and entertained the article, it would have blew the article out of proportion. Wherever they got their facts or information from, let that be what it is. You got your story out, thank you very much. I bow to it and keep it moving. Now, if you wanna entertain it, then you're gonna open up more worms you probably don't want opened up. So all Ross has to do is keep focusing on his music."

That's what some of our rappers/singers think..

Bottom line is this, Ross' credibility is on the line right now. I personally think that Ross should have never denied that he was a C.O in the first place and we wouldnt have had a problem but he did and that to me is FAKE. I love Rick Ross' music and I can appreciate him for his music but on the real tip, as a fan of his music I cant respect him for disowning his past.

As we all already know though.. The game, the industry in itself is going to give this a pass because if truth be told, Rick Ross, Akon and whoever else aren't the only people with potentially fabricated pasts. If Rick Ross' past is fabricated he wont be the first and he wont be the last.

Contributor's Note

Rick Ross should have admitted the truth.. but either way the game is still going to give this all a pass anyway.
